“Mind Share Partners really knows their field so, so well,” said Rebecca Reott, Senior Vice President of Global HR at The RepTrak Company. “There were a lot of tough questions from our team, and Mind Share did a good job answering them. A lot of other trainers would brush questions off, or provide a ‘non-answer,’ but Mind Share never did that. They led this work, and provided exceptional content and delivery.”
The Context
RepTrak’s mental health efforts began in 2019, starting with a focus on psychological safety and their company culture. This effort evolved and expanded, particularly during the pandemic, like incorporating mental health into the sick day policy, offering yoga and guided meditation, providing subscriptions to the Calm App, and launching a mental health forum where employees could share their experiences. Going into 2024, the company formed a dedicated taskforce to shape its mental health strategy and to ensure this work was employee-informed.
RepTrak’s HR team noticed employees turning to managers with mental health concerns more frequently and a rise in sick days, HR questions/inquiries, and medical leave tied to mental well-being.
In response, RepTrak engaged Mind Share Partners to help develop a more robust mental health strategy in 2024. This included prioritizing efforts to reduce stigma, building awareness, and empowering managers through training to build the skills and confidence to have open, supportive conversations about mental health with their teams.
RepTrak's Custom Strategy
To help RepTrak achieve its goals, Mind Share Partners:
Provided a keynote speaker for the company’s work ahead of Mental Health Awareness Month.
Hosted two 90-minute training sessions for managers to learn the skills and confidence to support their teams.
Organized a company-wide, all-employee storytelling event featuring three senior leaders sharing their personal mental health experiences, breaking down stigma and fostering connection.
Provided a peer discussion guide to ensure the conversation didn’t stop, encouraging ongoing dialogue and support across the organization.
The Impact
RepTrak conducted pre- and post-assessments with Mind Share, which revealed improvements in managers' and employees' skills, mindsets, and their ability to support both their own and others’ mental health. The assessment also highlighted a positive progression in RepTrak’s work culture, showing increased support for employee well-being.
After the training, some managers who had never considered mental health as part of their job role previously reported that they began to see it in a new light. They had greater awareness and a sense of responsibility, making it a core part of how they lead their teams. RepTrak’s HR team shared that the training strengthened trust with managers and employees alike, resulting in more managers and employees consulting with HR, understanding that they’re not expected to have all the answers. Overall, the HR team noted that employees increasingly feel the company genuinely cares about their well-being and mental health.
A unique moment unfolded during and after RepTrak’s storytelling events. Senior leaders who shared their stories opened up about experiencing the loss of a sibling at a young age and the impact this has had on their mental health over the years. This unexpected commonality fostered a strong connection and inspired by their openness, other employees felt encouraged to share their own stories of losing a sibling, creating a deeper sense of connection across the organization.
RepTrak’s third storyteller, opened up about how his own mental health journey affected family relationships, and his decision to seek professional support.
“We’re starting to meet the needs of our team members more effectively," said Reott. “Mental health is where the company sees us investing more. Doing training, bringing in guests, sharing resources, having a continuous presence on topic, and increasing awareness. There isn’t another topic where we have invested this much in the last couple years.”
